Bike size by height

Bike brands print a rider-height span for each frame size, and the spans often touch or overlap, so a rider at the edge fits two sizes. These pages read four mountain-bike charts, a hybrid chart and a gravel chart for each height.

Why the size letters do not line up between brands

A size letter is each brand's own label. Specialized's Fuse and Chisel share the same height spans, but Santa Cruz's 5010 starts its small at 5'1" and Norco's Range starts its medium at 5'4.5", so the same rider can be a medium on one bike and a large on another. Drop-bar bikes such as the Diverge use numbered sizes instead of letters, with eight sizes from 44 to 64.

Where one span ends at the height the next begins, the brands do not choose for you: the rider fits both, and a test ride, inseam and riding style decide. The height pages list both sizes in that case rather than picking one.
